Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park Discover here the geosites that are within the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park. Véu de Noiva Waterfall Geosite Located close to the headquarters of the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, the Cachoeira Véu de Noiva geosite is one of the postcards of the region. the attractive isself guided, open daily, with access from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. A 650-meter sunny trail with slopes leads to a viewpoint overlooking the waterfall and the valley of the Coxipózinho stream. On the access trail, the visitor can observe molds and against molds of brachiopods, tentaculites and other marine animals that inhabited the region during the Devonian. The site has a parking lot and control booth, visitor guidance, restrooms, drinking fountains, a souvenir shop and a restaurant. Trail Difficulty: Light. Route of Waterfalls and Trail of Fossils The Circuit of the Waterfalls of the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park consists of a total trail of 8 km, with ascents and descents, passing through areas of transition between cerrado and gallery forest, following the stream Independência and refreshment at the 5 waterfalls: das Andorinhas, Prainha, Degrau, Pulo and Sete de Setembro, in addition to visiting the Casa de Pedra, a large passage in the rock formed by the water creating natural halls. For visitation, it is necessary to accompany a guide or driver authorized by the national park. Ruiniform features – Hercules Florence The geosite is located on the trail between Casa de Pedra and Morro São Jerônimo, on a long walk route with little shade. The integration between history and geodiversity is the main point of this geosite, which can be approached from the first paths made by the bandeirantes, and later described by explorers such as Hércules Florence, one of the great inventors of photography. Biodiversity is abundant on site and along the access trail. Accompaniment by tour guides or accredited drivers at the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park is mandatory. Stone house Access to the geosite is via trails, via Circuito das Cachoeiras or Morro São Jerônimo. The Casa de Pedra cave is the result of local geomorphological evolution, where due to differences in the characteristics of some rock layers, a system with differentiated erosion was developed. This geosite is registered as an archaeological site at the Instituto Histórico Artístico Nacional (IPHAN), being described as a location with rock inscriptions. The place is open all year round, but bookings must be made by a tour guide or authorized driver by 11:30 am on the day of the tour, with entry allowed between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm and departure by 5:00 pm. Valentine's Waterfalls and Cachoeirinha This geosite is made up of two self-guided attractions in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, whose visitation is controlled by the visitor's guardhouse, daily from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, leaving at 4:00 pm. A partially sunny trail of 1100 meters leads to Cachoeira dos Namorados, formed by the Piedade stream, and 200m later is located the Cachoeirinha formed by the Coxipózinho stream. There is no tourist structure in the town, not even toilets and drinking fountains. The closest support structure is located at the National Park Headquarters. Due to easy access, excellent observation conditions and carrying capacity, the site is suitable for educational activities, but it is also a consolidated tourist attraction, where spa and contemplation activities are developed. Stone Town Access to the Cidade de Pedra geosite is via the MT-251 and MT-020 highways, towards the district of Água Fria. The integration between geodiversity and biodiversity is visible along the entire route. It is common to see flocks of scarlet macaws flying over the walls, and tapir and jaguar footprints along the way. Burrowing owls, seriemas and emus frequent the plateau savannah. To visit Cidade de Pedra, you need a 4X4 vehicle and accompaniment of an accredited guide or driver. There is no support structure on site, such as toilets and drinking fountains. Like the other attractions located in the National Park, Cidade de Pedra is open all year round. Morro São Jerônimo The Morro São Jerônimo geosite is a guided attraction in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park. The long walk route is carried out on a trail of about 8 km (16 km round trip) with slopes, slopes and a small climb and the accompaniment of tour guides or accredited drivers is mandatory. The limit of visitors to Morro de São Jerônimo is 36 per day, with up to six visitors per guide. An alternative way of visiting this geosite is the Travessia, a tourist attraction approximately 23 km long divided into two days of walking and an overnight stay in a location called Casa do Morro. The crossing connects some of the most important and popular tourist attractions and trails in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, such as: the Trail of the Véu-de-Noiva Waterfall, the Waterfall Circuit, the Época Waterfalls (temporary), the Morro São Jerônimo and the Carretão Historical Trail. Rooster crest Crista do Galo is a guided attraction in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, with access via MT-251, followed by back roads and a short but steep trail, which allows access to the top of the attraction. The place is open every day of the year, requires prior scheduling with a tour guide or accredited conduit, with entry allowed from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and departure by 5:00 pm. The closest tourist structures are located at the headquarters of the national park. This attraction is recognized for allowing the visitor a 360º view of the landscape. In addition to the rich biodiversity, the site is also close to the Claro River, another attraction in the park where visitors can go diving and other activities.

Caves and Casca River Discover here the geosites in the Cavernas region and in the Rio da Casca community. Caves The set of natural cavities made up of the Aroe Jari, Lagoa Azul, Kiogo Brado and Pobo Jari caves, is located on a farm, which access is via the MT-251, following the MT-450, in a 41 km route from the seat of the municipality. Visitation is open every day from 8 am to 4 pm, and must be carried out with a tour guide or driver. Access to the geosite is via trails, but there is the possibility of hiring a transfer service. On site there is a reception, toilets, a snack bar and a restaurant that works to order. Stone bridge This geosite is located on the same property where the Complex of Caves Aroe Jari, Lagoa Azul, Kiogo Brado and Pobo Jari is located, and follows the same rules and visitation schedules, being located on the access trail to the cavities. This geosite is located close to the visitation structure and access is via a short, easy-level trail. Casca River and Pedra Furada Waterfall The Pedra Furada waterfall is named after the rock formation in which the water passes through a “hole” in the rock. The Pedra Furada waterfall is located in the community of Rio da Casca, close to the old Chalé dos Governadores. Access to the site is via a short trail of medium difficulty. There is no restaurant structure or restrooms on site. The closest place with structure is the Comunidade Rio da Casca, about 5 km away from the waterfall.

Route of dinosaurs and diamonds Discover here the geosites that have dinosaur fossils and those where diamonds have already been found. Mining of the Slave - Cachoeira Rica The geosite is located in the community of Cachoeira Rica, which is located 31 km away from the municipal seat. Access is via an unpaved road and during the journey the visitor can observe the Fecho do Morro and ruiform features of the Botucatu Formation. In the community there is a restaurant, cafeteria and parking. The Garimpo da Script geosite is linked to the history of the discovery and extraction of diamonds in Mato Grosso, being one of the first places where mineral activity was developed in the 1820s. of electricity production in the state of Mato Grosso. Salvador mining Access to this geosite is via the MT-020 towards the Água Fria District, 33 km away from the municipal headquarters. In the locality there is a restaurant, snack bar, supermarket and gas station. The Salvador mine is located in the urban perimeter, has parking and has light and short trails. Mr. Salvador, owner of the property, presents information about the mining, in addition to demonstrating how the process to find diamonds is done. The mining is integrated with historical elements, such as the old routes that connected the sesmarias to Vila de Cuiabá, the march of Coluna Prestes. Papaya Passage Volcanism The geosite is located on the sidelines of the MT-020, approximately 50 km from the municipal seat. The easily accessible location has parking space, some grocery stores and a snack bar. In the district of Água Fria you can find a gas station and a restaurant. There is no established visitation policy on site. The integration between different types of elements, and between different types of rocks, make this geosite an excellent location for field classes, highlighting the contacts between the formations and the record of magmatism. The local biodiversity is reasonably preserved with abundant fauna and flora typical of cerradão areas and gallery forests. Pingador waterfall Access to the Cachoeira Pingador geosite is located 3 km after the Água Fria district, where it follows an unpaved road for 13 km, until the reception of the attraction located at the headquarters of the owner farm. The small trail to the waterfall is easily accessible and shaded. There is an archaeological site on site, with poorly preserved cave inscriptions and a shelter excavated during the archaeological rescue carried out during the construction of the Manso Power Plant. Geladeira Circuit Along Estrada do Garimpo, which connects the municipality of Chapada do Guimarães to the community of Cachoeira Rica, converging to the right on a side road, you will find the reception and parking of the geosite. In the place there are two waterfalls whose access is facilitated by a short and sloping trail. The site is open all year round, from 9 am to 5 pm. The closest cafeteria service is the Marimbondo waterfall reception, located 1 km further on the same road.
